Theatre Lesson- 24th January

We started off yesterdays lesson by finding a space in the room, closing our eyes and getting into the character. We had to change our whole physicality. The way we walk, the way our shoulders sit, how fast or slow we walk etc. This helped me to get into role and made me really think about the habits of Ara.

I discovered that she is very wary of whats around her. She would always keep herself to herself as she walks but is always conscious of the people and situations around her. I learnt that she is like this because of her previous background, when she was in Afghanistan she always had to watch out because of the conflict she was living in, and she still has similar habits over in the uk.

We then had to walk around with the other people who shared our role and discuss the habits and characteristics of our character. I learnt that we all thought the same about Ara's character and all thought that although she is a strong girl and try's to walk with dignity, she is weak inside and still try's to stay out of any trouble and conflict.

Next we played a game of stuck in the mud, this got all of us going and stimulated us to bring more energy into the room. We then had to hop instead of walk, crawl and gallop this made us think on our feet and made me more focused. I learnt that although a simple game like stuck in mud may seem stupid, it can actually really stimulate you and bring that spark of energy needed for rehearsals.
