We began reading the script of Fugee By Abi Morgan today, first impressions were that the play is very interesting in the way it chops and changes between scenes, the end is at the beginning and the way the audience are constantly reminded that the characters aren't real, and you're just watching the a play.

Kojo is the main character in Fugee, he is a refugee that has fled the Ivory Coast into the uk where he stays at a hostel/refuge for teens up to 18. He is quite a bold and brave  character from what we have read so far. He traveled alone into the unknown with no-one to support him, he can hardly speak english and he has no family. This already makes him vulnerable however by doing this you would imagine he is fairly brave and strong minded

The refuge manager is introduced when Kojo first arrives at the refuge, she is very matter a fact but is kind, caring and is almost like a mother figure.

Those are just two characters that we began to explore in our first lesson. We began discussing the story line and looking into Kojo's mind and how his experience from the Ivory Coast effected him. In addition we began to talk about what may have happened to Kojo and his family whilst in the Ivory Coast.
