Given Circumstances

In last weeks lesson we discussed the 'given circumstances' of the play. What they are, and what is meant by given circumstances.

I learnt that the given circumstances of a play is the information given by that author in the script. They could be about the characters, setting, background of characters ect. I learnt that some particularly important given circumstances are religious, political, social, educational, and climactic facts.

From the script i learnt that the given circumstances of Kojo, Ara, Cheung and Roza.

Given Circumstances of the Fugee
         
     Given Circumstances-Ara:


  • She's from Kabul,Afghanistan.
  • She has no family.
  • She and Kojo have a love interest.
  • She arrived from Kabul to the uk in a lorry.
  • She currently is living in a refuge in the uk.
  • She is a female.
  • She is a fugee.
     Kojo:
  • He is from the Ivory Coast.
  • Escaped into the uk by plane.
  • He is a male.
  • He has no family.
  • Family killed by the same people.
  • He doesn't look his age.
  • His father is a teacher.
  • He stabbed a man.
  • Currently lives in a refuge in the uk.
  • Gets kicked out of the refuge.
  • Love interest with Ara.
  • Last saw his parents on his 11th birthday.
  • He is a fugee.
  • Saw his fathers death.
     Roza:
  • She is from Iraq.
  • She and Hassan speak the same language.
  • She is a Fugee.
  • Currently living in a refuge.
  • She is female.
     Cheung:
  • He is male.
  • He is from China.
  • His mother died on the way to the uk.
  • Currently living in a refuge.
  • He is a fugee.
  • He likes acrobatics.
